Description
Taking over the spot formerly occupied by Avalanche, 1761 is a two-storey restaurant and bar in the city centre of Manchester. Inspired by Manchester's past, the building is divided between fine-dining restaurant 1761, and basement bar Lily's Bar.
The venue is named after the date of the opening of the Bridgewater Canal and the beginning of the industrial revolution, and will pay homage to the city's past with British dishes such as corned beef hash and salt beef and pickle sandwiches. Downstairs Lily's Bar will hark back to a far glitzier time, however, with decor inspired by 'The Golden Era'.
As part of a £1 million refurbishment, Lily's Bar includes a massive stingray tank, 500 locally crafted pieces of furniture and a secret bar designed like a Library. The venue is named after Lily Bollinger, from the Champagne family, and as one would expect, will have a large selection of Champagne cocktails.
