What they say:
It's time to say goodbye to Avalanche on Booth Street and hello to a giant stingray tank, secret library bar and fine dining restaurant as 1761 opens in the city centre. The new two-storey venue has undergone a huge £1 million refurbishment to become a bar and restaurant that celebrates Manchester's history and culture. Named after the opening of Bridgewater Canal, restaurant 1761 will be upstairs and will serve dishes such as corned beef hash and salt beef and pickles while Lily's Bar will be a dedicated Champagne spot.
What we say:
New bar and restaurant 1761 and Lily's Bar is packing punches in a city full of quirky and out there venues. The city centre spot has undergone a huge transformation to capture the essence of Manchester, along with plenty of glitz and glamour thrown in. Downstairs bar Lily's looks to be particularly impressive as the home of the giant stingray tank, 500 pieces of hand-crafted furniture and a secret private hire space modelled on a library. The bar is named after Lily Bollinger, and as one would expect, will be serving up a whole host of bubbly cocktails.
