Located on the second floor of Selfridges Manchester, with striking views across Exchange Square and Manchester's unique skyline, San Carlo Bottega is the latest venture from the award winning, family run group of Italian restaurants in Manchester. The restaurant, Champagne and cocktail bar serves up expertly crafted cicchetti style dishes influenced by Italy and Southern France, in a bright, airy space with double height windows allowing light to flood into the restaurant from morning until evening. As well as a stylish restaurant with comfortable seating in cool pastel blue tones, the venue also boasts a long, marble clad Champagne bar where weary shoppers can pull up a stool and enjoy a range of wines, Champagnes and cocktails.
What we say:
As big fans of the original San Carlo and San Carlo Cicchetti in Manchester, we were pretty excited to hear that the group were moving into Selfridges - making itself at home in the second floor spot previously occupied by French restaurant Aubaine (nope, us neither). And it's clear that San Carlo's reputation has preceded it; the restaurant was packed out on our lunchtime visit. We love the casual cicchetti style menu - with its small plate dishes ideal for afternoon grazing. And with stunning views across the city, San Carlo Bottega makes a unique and atmospheric place to while away a few hours in a light filled haze of fantastic wine, and rich Italian and French flavours.
