Description
As a meat-eater, Shannon Martinez might not be the first person that springs to mind when looking for a vegan restaurant in Melbourne. But this uber talented - and cool - chef has created one of the best plant-based places in the city. Set in a pub that was once allegedly frequented by Bob Marley, Smith & Daughters is a slick rock ‘n’ roll joint, from the framed band posters on the wall to the punk rock that blasts out of the speakers.
Regardless of whether you are vegan or not, the food here is going to blow you away as Martinez creates flavourful, hearty plates that replicate textures of cheese and meats. A banquet menu of dishes focusses on Italian flavours over the weekend - we’re all over the charcoal ‘chicken’, served with tabil spice, pickled chillies, and labne. To wash it down, try one of the knock-out cocktails or go for the drinks pairing at an additional $40.
