Description
This glass-fronted, neon-lit space is the work of supremo Andrew McConnell and is quickly proving to be one of the most popular restaurants in Melbourne. Inspired by his time in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Seoul, the chef has created an Asian fusion menu with some Aussie twists.
Sit down on one of the long wooden tables and watch the team work their magic in the open kitchen. Service is speedy so it won’t take long before you’re tucking into drool-worthy dishes such as raw kingfish with fermented green chilli, and twice-cooked duck leg stuffed into soft bao buns. Can’t decide what to eat? The banquet menu gives a sample of some of the space’s best bites.
It’s not just sexy plates and interiors at Supernormal, however. Downstairs, the bright white private hire room doubles up as a karaoke space - perfect for singing a serenade about your recently scoffed food - and there’s a Japanese snack machine if you want to try something new. Still thirsty? Nab a seat at the zinc-topped bar for a curated list of cocktails, some of which include Supernormal’s own blended gin - if you really love it, you can even take a bottle home.
