Restaurants Opening In Newcastle In 2025
Mowgli - opening Spring 2025
8 Nelson Street, NE1 5AW
With restaurants up and down the country, including London, Leeds, Glasgow and many more, Mowgli has set its sights on Newcastle with a brand new venue coming to Nelson Street in late 2024. Run by celebrity chef Nisha Katona, these venues are best known for their gorgeous decor - often including fairy lights and indoor trees.
This new location has been in the works for quite some time, so there's a lot of anticipation in the lead-up to their opening. Their menu celebrates the best of Indian street food, with popular dishes including spiced tomato paneer, Goan fish curry and butter chicken.
Babucho Gosforth - Date TBC
The Old Church, West Avenue, Gosforth NE3 4ES
Babucho's Dean Street location has always been a top choice thanks to its extensive menu and welcoming atmosphere. But now, Gosforth residents can rejoice, as they're opening a brand new venue in this charming neighbourhood - in the gorgeous building that was once home to Barluga.
This is a truly beautiful venue, a former church that maintains many of its original features such as stained glass windows and high ceilings. Babucho's owners plan to maintain these stunning aspects, as well as adding in booths, a high counter and private dining rooms before their opening in the new year. As for the menu? Expect their usual spread of pizza, pasta, steak and other international eats.
Rudy's Pizza Napoletana - Date TBC
31 Grey Street, NE1 6ES
Having opened their first North East venue in Durham last year, the award-winning Rudy's Pizza Napoletana are now setting up shop on Grey Street, supposedly in the former Royal Bank of Scotland. While no date has been set yet, they're promising to give away up to 3,000 free pizzas to celebrate the launch.
They're all about traditional Neapolitan pizzas here, across dozens of venues that have popped up all over the UK since their first Manchester site in 2015. They make their dough fresh every day with 24-hour fermented 00 Caputo flour, before topping it with Fior di Latte mozzarella and other tasty bites.
Restaurants Opening In Newcastle In 2024
Cilantro - Opening Winter 2024
15 Side, Quayside NE1 3JE
A popular spot in the nearby Hexham for many years, Cilantro is opening a new site on the Quayside. Owned by The Valley Group, who already have several restaurants across the North East, this unique venue serves a bold fusion of Indo-Latino flavours across their tapas plates.
This is a family affair, as the son of the group's owner manages Cilantro. Highlights of their current menu include grilled king prawns served on a bed of crispy potatoes, spicy okra fries and chicken tikka quesadillas, so expect plenty of exciting combinations to come.
Dood - Open Now (November 2024)
63 Quayside, NE1 3DE
In an iconic Quayside building that has housed all sorts of pubs and restaurants over the years, you can now find Dood. They opened their doors in November 2024, revealing a stunning venue after much anticipation. Complete with sultry low lighting, rustic brick walls and plenty of unique plants and artwork decorating the space, its definitely a perfect pick for date night.
They offer a unique mix of Persian and Levantine cuisine, inspired by the ancient travellers of the fabled Silk Road. The menu features hot and cold mezze plates, alongside traditional kebabs, freshly baked bread and sides.
Fred's at Fenwick - Open Now (September 2024)
Fenwick Newcastle, 39 Northumberland Street NE1 7AS
Fenwick on Northumberland Street have added a brand new venue to their ground floor: Fred's. This is inspired by founding family member Fred Fenwick, who had a passion for all things French culture, particularly the Belle Epoque era of the late 1800s to early 1900s.
The department store is already a popular spot for lunches and coffee stops, and their new venue has only added to this. You can enjoy freshly pressed juice, pastries made in-store and a tasty menu of savoury dishes - including their signature croissant sandwiches that are exclusive to Newcastle. What's more, they offer afternoon tea as well.
