Did someone say unlimited cocktails and pizza? As much as I love the combination of these two delights, I have to admit, I'm more of a night owl than an early bird, so bottomless brunches don't quite hit the spot (I need my beauty sleep, after all). But what if I told you there was a nighttime version for those of us who prefer their indulgence after dark?
DesignMyNight Review Of Pizza Punks Nottingham’s Late Night Pizza Party
A few days ago, I ventured over to Pizza Punks in Fletcher Gate to try out their brand spanking new Late Night Pizza Party offer that runs from 8 to 11pm. Promising 90 minutes of unlimited cocktails and any pizza from their epic menu (including DIY options), this indulgent venue had me and my dining companion primed and ready for a night of foodie fun and boozy shenanigans.
As we strolled down Hockley hunting for grub, we found Pizza Punks conveniently located right across from the Lace Market tram stop, standing out with its red neon light exterior amid a myriad of other food venues. Living up to its name with a glaringly confident stature emblematic of the punk archetype, the quirky pizza establishment beckoned our name, and we obliged. Inside, the interior followed suit with industrial-style exposed brick walls and pipes, flashes of red neon signage, Ed Hardy-esque graffiti, as well as an open kitchen where you can witness the magic of your wood-fired dough being crafted.
When it comes to the pies, Pizza Punks goes beyond the basics. While they do offer classics like Margherita, pepperoni, and Hawaiian, they also unleash the anarchy of creativity with nearly limitless options for customised pizzas. Their doughy, hand-stretched creations are crafted from sourdough, resulting in a light and airy texture. Cooked to perfection, each pizza delivers a beautifully charred exterior and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth base.
Our picks? First up, the Hot Cheeto (£12.95), loaded with garlic oil, mac 'n' cheese, mozzarella, parmesan, and hot Cheeto bacon bits. This pizza was a cheesy dream — creamy and gooey on the inside with a perfect crunch on top. The fromage and cheese puff combo brought the heat and a tsunami of saltiness that was a tad too rich for our tastebuds. Still, it was a flavour burst we couldn't resist.
Then came the Buffalo Chicken (£12.95), which was the clear winner of the night, offering a rich medley of flavours featuring goodies like grated mozzarella, candied jalapeños and garlic mayo with just the right tinge of spice to tickle our Asian taste buds. It was the perfect combination of ingredients, with no skimping on the toppings either, which were piled high and evenly spread. But let's be real, when is Buffalo chicken with jalapeños not a match made in heaven?
You might think the pizza would distract from the drinks here, but the cocktail list is just as great. It doesn't play around with syrupy concoctions, instead offering quality pairings to accompany your indulgent Italian treats. The tipples on offer are perfect for summer; each served with crushed ice and plenty of fruity ingredients. My favourite? The Drumstick Caiprisma (£9) — zesty and refreshing, it was mixed with vanilla and raspberry-infused Bacardi, lime, and berries. This cooling concoction reminded me of a gas-station slushie from my childhood, but with alcohol, so naturally, it was 10 times better. The Loveheart Caipiroska (£9) was another delicious selection, offering the perfect blend of sugary and tangy sharpness. This summery tipple featured Loveheart-infused Finlandia vodka, limoncello, cherry, lemon, and mint. The best part, though? You also get a tiny pack of the sweet treats on top.
The drinks flowed non-stop during our meal, thanks to our attentive server, who kept us topped up with options like minty Coconut Mojitos (£9), sweet and juicy Strawberry Smashes (£9), and even popped open a delicious bottle of bubbles to keep the party going. Speaking of, this review wouldn't be complete without a shoutout to our brilliant waiter, Kevin, who was nothing short of fantastic. He was highly attentive, giving us plenty of time to choose from the menu and provided detailed explanations on the array of pizza combinations and boozy concoctions available.
