Description
One of the best restaurants in Fremantle, Manuka Woodfire Kitchen is a local favourite for its soulful take on open fire cooking and sharing plates. This is equally reflected in the venue's rustic look, which pairs exposed stone walls with wooden hanging lights and streetside tables.
At the helm? Chef-owner Kenny McHardy, whose childhood growing up on the New Zealand isle of Kawau and collecting manuka wood for cooking inspired the restaurant's concept. His experience at London Michelin star kitchens and the two-Hatted Walters Wine Bar in Melbourne means that the food here more than hits the spot. Think everything from roasted duck breast with picked red cabbage and miso sauce to lemon-fennel baked snapper, all made using seasonal, Western Australian ingredients. To wash it down? Local wines and craft beer.
