So, um, hands up if you’ve ever considered a skip as a perfect picnic destination? Us neither, but that was before we heard all about Pimm’s plans to turn a comparatively innocuous object into a fully-fledged urban oasis, showcasing the Great British Summer in true style.
Welcome to the Pop-Up Picnics in Skips, a two-day residency in the West End’s Great Queen Street designed to inject a little colour into the capital. You’ll be able to ease into your quirky surroundings and embrace the countryside vibes without leaving the heart of London. Take in the smells of freshly cut grass, listen to the singing birds and relax with your chums throughout the day at this free event.
Of course it wouldn’t be the Great British Summer without the persistent and potent threat of the heavens opening, at which point revellers will retreat to the covered Potting Shed Skip where the comfort of a cucumber sandwich and fresh serving of Pimm’s will offer some respite.
The Pimm's SkipNics pop-up event will take place in two summer-themed skips on Great Queen Street, WC2B 5AD between the 7th and 8th of August 2014. The event runs from midday - 6pm, and entry is free.
