Description
Located in Oxford, just a short walk from Cornmarket Street, Oxford University and St John’s College, the Eagle & Child is the perfect place to take a break and recharge your batteries.
Providing a traditionally British environment, the pub boasts a number of interesting literary connections – J.R.R Tolkien, C.S Lewis, and their fellow writers met here and named themselves “The Inklings”. They nicknamed the pub “The Bird and Baby’. Even further back, during the Civil War, the historic building was used as a playhouse for the Royalist soldiers.
As you soak up the history, you’ll be able to enjoy traditional British pub hospitality, great food, and an impressive selection of cask ales and spirits.
