Yakinori Selly Oak

With its sister site in Solihull having won the East Asian Restaurant of the Year award in 2023, it comes as no surprise that Yakinori Selly Oak is a great spot for some sensational sushi. This brand offers a fun, laid-back vibe, featuring quirky interiors, from the vibrant furniture to the cute cartoon murals. The menu is just as exciting, with chicken katsu sandos and firecracker cauliflower alongside torched chilli salmon nigiri, tuna sashimi and a load of signature rolls.

YO! Birmingham Grand Central

Thursdays: Bottomless Belt 4-8pm and 1 other offer

If you're on the lookout for cheap sushi in Birmingham, any foodie will point you in the direction of YO! in Grand Central or Selfridges. A global brand that ensures each one of its restaurants is a fun, laid-back place to eat, it offers a never-ending conveyor belt of sushi (just like in Japan), such as salmon maki, California hand rolls and tuna nigiri. You can pluck your desired dishes right off the belt, plus if you fancy something hot to pair? You can order a whole range of freshly prepared classics, from their umami miso soup to yakisoba noodles and so much more.

Tabu Bar & Restaurant

Located just outside of the bustling city centre, Tabu Bar & Restaurant is a sushi party restaurant where you'll find an East-meets-West dining experience. The space itself is pretty darn trendy, with wrap-around pink leather seating, intimate, cavernous nooks and entertainment too – think live percussion and saxophonists in the restaurant, as well as DJs playing house fusion in the bar and lounge. And, of course, there's a fantastic selection of sushi and sashimi, including salmon teriyaki uramaki, prawn sashimi and tuna hosomaki.

Kyoto Sushi & Grill

Found on the Hurst Street side of The Arcadian, Kyoto Sushi & Grill is a popular spot to get your Japanese fix. At the core of this restaurant is a 'shared dining' concept, where you can get all-you-can-eat sushi for just £29.80. Choose from a fantastic lineup of dishes, from salmon hand rolls to shrimp temaki and classic maki rolls. But the menu doesn't stop there; there's an extensive list of sushi bites too, including karaage fish and a sashimi beef salad.

Sushi Passion

Offering some of the best sushi in Birmingham city centre, Sushi Passion has got you well and truly sorted. The restaurant started out in 2014, nestled in The Great Western Arcade, and quickly gained local fame for its fabulous food. Inside, it offers a warm ambience, with traditional tatami-style tables, glowing lanterns, vibrant landscapes along the walls and pops of colour from the pink blossom trees. For those of you who like trying something new and unique, make sure to order the salmon panko futomaki or Sushi Passion fried temaki, although you'll also find classic yellowtail sashimi, salmon maki and so much more up for grabs. And, to top it off, you can even go for one of their cute sushi boats, adorned with all the sushi you could ever want.
