This is, officially, the best burger in Glasgow. On Monday night there was barely a burger to be had in bars and restaurants across Glasgow as chefs packed up their patties and headed to Ad Lib, for a burger-off of epic proportions at the Ingram Street bar's 3rd Annual Glasgow's Best Burger Competition kicked off. Judges on the night included Glasgow's resident burger buff, James Lees (of James vs Burger fame) who credits Ad Lib as being the bar to bring the gourmet burger craze to Glasgow.
Among the competitors were a plethora of great bars; MeatHammer Ltd who run the kitchen at Nice'n'Sleazy, Burger Meats Bun (obviously), Broadcast, Slouch, Strata, Meat Bar, Maggie May's, and Max's. But winning out on the night, were the burgers that have Southsiders queuing up to 45 minutes for a taste, Buddy's BBQ. Buddy's won with its much-loved Western burger, a cheeseburger with bacon, onion rings and Buddy's signature BBQ sauce. The Glasgow burger joint has recently set up kitchen in new club Kokomo, but what has its fans (and it has a helluva lotta fans) most excited is the new Buddy's diner which is set to open over the next couple of weeks. Soon you'll be able to eat Glasgow's Best Burger in cool restaurant surroundings, with a craft beer in hand. We cannit freakin' wait.
Oh and props to second and third, MeatHammer, and Slouch respectively - these guys also know how to pound a patty with style.
So do tell, did the top burger win out, or where do you reckon has a better bun?
