Celebrating an incredible first year, Women Worldwide Active are hosting a day of inspiring events at Pop Brixton. The not for profit organisation helps women from tumultuous backgrounds learn a new craft, the products of which are then sold on BackHer to help raise money for further investment into people's futures. This January, the group are putting on day of motivational women, from a performance by Yasmin Kadi (named London’s Best New Music by BBC Introducing, and who also released her lyrically-apt song, 'Go Down Low'), through to readings by Dorothy Oger and Kavitha Chahel.
Every penny spent on BackHer is ploughed straight back into Women Worldwide Active in order to help as many people as possible. The group started life in May 2016 in Hackney by working with the Big Issue, visiting soup kitchens and various other women's charities. Aiming to improve the lives of the women they help, the orginisation runs an artisan course, teaching everything from sewing through to printing as well as selling fair trade products from around the world.
Head to Pop Brixton on 22nd January from 12 - 6pm to attend Women Worldwide Active Festival. Tickets are free and available here.
