Sorry, the places listed below don't have online bookings available, but we hope you still find this list useful for your night out!

Khai Khai

A sleek, stylish venue that was featured in the Michelin Guide for 2022, Khai Khai is often considered the best Indian restaurant on Newcastle Quayside. This high-end haunt flaunts marble-topped tables, black leather booths and lots of greenery, making for a gorgeous environment to enjoy your meal.

Their authentic dishes are inspired by the rich culinary history of India, ranging from saffron paneer tikka to prawn pakora and braised boneless lamb with fresh ginger. These are prepared using hot stones, coals and wood fires, to achieve the most authentic flavours possible. Though the menu is inspired by India, the ingredients are largely sourced from the UK, with a focus on sustainability in their cooking.

My Delhi

A contender for the best Indian restaurant in Newcastle city centre, My Delhi can be found on Clayton Street. You'll be greeted by a bright blue camper van as you walk in, and this colourful decor continues throughout the venue. As the name suggests, this place is inspired by the bustling streets of Delhi, with a street food-inspired menu to enjoy.

Dishes include sauteed paneer bhuna, tandoori-roasted butter chicken and spicy lamb chops. Plus, you can enjoy bottomless brunch for just £35 here, including 90 minutes of unlimited cocktails and a mouthwatering main dish.

Simla

Located close to the Quayside, Simla is a relaxed restaurant fronting exposed brick walls, colourful furniture and Indian-inspired artwork. There are a wide range of dishes to choose from, inspired by Indian cuisine and how it's changed over the years.

Dig into plates like Bengal mustard salmon, crispy okra in a masala sauce or creamy spinach chicken, followed by a traditional rice pudding dessert.

Dabbawal

Named after the bicycle-riding delivery drivers on Mumbai, Dabbawal is a vibrant restaurant that specialises in authentic Indian street food. Their original location can be found on High Bridge in the city centre, though they've got a second site in West Jesmond as well.

Expect a cosy atmosphere in this laid-back venue, with a team of talented chefs who have been trained in traditional Indian cooking techniques. There's all sorts to choose from on their extensive menu, including Punjabi chicken tikka, pan-fried sea bass in a coconut and ginger sauce or creamy black lentils.
