The only venue in Jesmond to have a 2am license, As You Like It is a sprawling three-storey venue on Archbold Street. There are four separate bars here, as well as plenty of cosy corners filled with comfy sofas and rustic wooden furniture - topped off by a charming garden terrace and a secret balcony.

Located just outside the city in Jarrow, The Lord Nelson is a traditional pub that offers free live music in Newcastle every Saturday. Each week showcases a different local talent, with genres ranging from acoustic to blues and classic rock - and you may even discover your new favourite artist.

They have a live DJ playing every single Friday and Saturday, as well as a weekly lineup of live musicians. Looking out over the Monument area from its elevated position, The Botanist is a stunning bar and restaurant complete with its own rooftop terrace. The beautiful space is filled with greenery and rustic wooden furniture, as well as a domed glass ceiling that's covered in fairy lights.

You'll often find live musicians playing in the main bar, particularly acoustic guitar performances. There's a huge menu of gin-based cocktails to enjoy, as well as scrumptious dishes like katsu curry, fish and chips or their signature hanging kebabs.

The secretive spot attracts a regular lineup of some of the North East's top performers, which is free to enter on Fridays and Saturdays.

They also have a resident pianist during the week, as well as a burlesque night on the third Friday of every month. There's a fully stocked bar to take advantage of, stocking a wide range of national and international beers, including their very own Prohibition 33 Pale Ale produced by the local Allendale Brewery.
