Live Music In Newcastle

Having produced some great musicians over the years, from Sam Fender to half of Little Mix, Newcastle is home to some seriously talented performers. And you don't always have to head to the Utilita Arena to see them, as many of the city's bars, clubs and pubs host live shows on a regular basis.

The only venue in Jesmond to have a 2am license, As You Like It is a sprawling three-storey venue on Archbold Street. There are four separate bars here, as well as plenty of cosy corners filled with comfy sofas and rustic wooden furniture - topped off by a charming garden terrace and a secret balcony.

They host live music and DJ sets every single weekend, with plenty of space in front of the stage for dancing. While you're at it, sip creative cocktails like the Geordie Zombie, and there's even an extensive menu of international dishes to tuck into.

Nestled in the heart of Gosforth, Three Mile is an award-winning pub that promises a great atmosphere at all times - even having won North East Pub of the year in 2022. Expect a wide variety of live music performances throughout the week, as well as all sorts of other entertainment.

Located just outside the city in Jarrow, The Lord Nelson is a traditional pub that offers free live music in Newcastle every Saturday. Each week showcases a different local talent, with genres ranging from acoustic to blues and classic rock - and you may even discover your new favourite artist.

While you're here, take advantage of their refreshing craft beer and signature cocktails, alongside tasty eats such as bacon cheeseburgers, fish and chips or katsu curry.

WonderBar

Open until late every single day of the week, WonderBar is a buzzing bar located in The Gate. They have a live DJ playing every single Friday and Saturday, as well as a weekly lineup of live musicians. There's also an open mic night on Thursdays, so you can even get involved in the singing yourself.

Feeling peckish? There's a whole lot of tasty food to tuck into, ranging from crispy barbecue pork burgers to loaded nachos or pizzas topped with fries and garlic mayo. Plus, there are cracking cocktails and beers to wash it all down.

The Botanist, Newcastle

On the hunt for live music in Newcastle city centre? Looking out over the Monument area from its elevated position, The Botanist is a stunning bar and restaurant complete with its own rooftop terrace. The beautiful space is filled with greenery and rustic wooden furniture, as well as a domed glass ceiling that's covered in fairy lights.

You'll often find live musicians playing in the main bar, particularly acoustic guitar performances. There's a huge menu of gin-based cocktails to enjoy, as well as scrumptious dishes like katsu curry, fish and chips or their signature hanging kebabs.

Prohibition Cabaret Bar

Having won multiple awards over the years, such as Boutique Entertainment Venue of the Year in the 2020 North England Prestige Awards, Prohibition Cabaret Bar is a Pink Lane venue inspired by the glitz and glamour of the 1920s. The secretive spot attracts a regular lineup of some of the North East's top performers, which is free to enter on Fridays and Saturdays.

They also have a resident pianist during the week, as well as a burlesque night on the third Friday of every month. There's a fully stocked bar to take advantage of, stocking a wide range of national and international beers, including their very own Prohibition 33 Pale Ale produced by the local Allendale Brewery.
